Body of missing FBI agent found in Burbank area

The more than two month search for missing FBI agent Stephen Ivens reportedly has ended tragically in the Burbank area. Ivens’ family has held onto hope that he might still be alive even though he was last seen on May 10, 2012. Burbank’s new city clerk and city treasurer are on the job after being sworn into office during last Tuesday’s city council meeting by Deputy City Clerk Susan Domen. City Clerk Zizette Mullins and City Treasurer Debbie Kukta were appointed by the city council during a special meeting last month. Judge hands down stiff sentence to killer of a Burbank police officer

A collective sigh of relief in B-town today after the killer of Burbank Police Officer, Matthew Pavelka, was sentenced to life in prison, without the possibility of parole, as part of a plea bargain to avoid the death penalty. This morning during a hearing, 28-year-old David Garcia reportedly pleaded guilty to first degree murder in the shooting death of Officer Pavelka and attempted murder, for the wounding of Burbank Police Officer Gregory Campbell. President Obama visited some of the victims of that tragic theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado and their families yesterday. At the University of Colorado Hospital, Obama chatted with victim Allie Young and hugged her friend Stephanie Davies — who is credited with keeping Young alive after she was shot. Twelve moviegoers were killed and around 58 wounded when a gunman sprayed a darkened theater with gunfire early last Friday. Tragedy in Colorado. Authorities are saying a lone gunman opened fire during a midnight premiere of “The Dark Knight Rises” in Aurora, Colorado — at least 12 people were killed and 38 injured.  The suspect has been tentatively identified as 24-year-old James Holmes. “The Dark Knight Rises” doesn’t open until after midnight, but this superhero flick has already racked up an a huge $25 million in advanced ticket sales as of yesterday. Hot, muggy, and a chance of showers in Burbank today

We’re getting some freaky weather in the Media City. By 2 p.m. this afternoon, the temperature hovered around 92, but that’s not the worst of it. The air is muggy and thunderstorms are threatening in the cloudy skies. The chance of rain is 20 percent through tonight.  Not a good time to be outside. However some relief, in terms of lower temps, are in the forecast for this weekend. So hang in there.

The heat is on in Burbank. At 1 p.m., the thermometer had topped 90 degrees in the Media City. The high today could reach the triple digits! The hot temps are expected to linger for several days. I joined friends for lunch on the patio of the Clubhouse Grill at the DeBell Golf Club in Burbank yesterday, and it was a big disappointment. The views of the hillsides and golf greens were terrific, but the food and the service were totally sub par. First, our table was dirty and we had to ask the waitress to clean it off.
