A shout out to the Tallyrand !

  I dropped by the Tallyrand restaurant at 1700 West Olive Avenue around 4:30 p.m. yesterday for an early dinner. This is usually a slow time for eateries , but to my surprise, the Rand was bustling with activity. The reason: a fundraiser for senior services in Burbank. If a customer requested it, the restaurant management donated 20 per cent of the bill to that cause.   The  Bob Hope estate, which one real estate executive liken to “a private park,” is now up for sale, after months of reports about the property going on the market. The price tag for the Toluca Lake compound: $27.5 million, according to People Magazine. There are issues and controversies Burbank folks can’t stop talking about. The proposed and long-stalled Walmart superstore at the old Great Indoors location on North Victory Place at the Empire Center is one of those hot debates. Grammy-award winning singer/model/actress, “Rihanna” is always turning heads, pushing the envelope, and starting trends. Now the young entertainer has a new fragrance out called Rogue, according to a PRNewswire. Warner Bros is hooking up with bestselling author/Harry Potter creator, J.K. Rowling. on a new film series. Paul McCartney’s new song featured in “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2”

The Sony Pictures’ animation, “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2” has scored big time, even though, it doesn’t hit theaters until September 27 . Sony announced yesterday, the film will feature the title track from Paul McCartney’s forthcoming album, set to drop in UK and U.S. in mid-October, according to a PR Newswire release. McCartney’s song in the animation is called “New.” In the news release, Lia Vollack, president of Worldwide Music for Sony Pictures, said, “We’re thrilled and honored to have Paul’s infectious and inspiring song in the film.”... Car shows: A big draw in Burbank

“This is a car town!” exclaimed Councilman, Bob Frutos, at the recent August 20 Burbank City Council meeting. Frutos’ declaration occurred during council comments about the very successful “Downtown Burbank Car Classic” on San Fernando Boulevard, between Magnolia Boulevard and Olive Avenue,  last July. Frutos is right. For proof, look at the popularity of car shows in the Media City. The “Robocop” reboot has a new trailer

The sci-fi classic “Robocop” is getting a reboot. It’s set to open in theaters in February of 2014. The new “Robocop” reportedly had a budget of a $100 million — the first back in 1987 –was made for about $13 million. There have been a couple of sequels since the original hit the big screen, but they were not successful. “Robocop” 2014 stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, and Samuel L. Jackson.   UPDATED: September, 6, 2013 2:30 a.m. Brace yourself for another hot one in the Media City. At 2:30 a.m. the temperature is still in the 80s. Not much relief overnight and none is predicted once the sun comes up. Yesterday, Burbank reached 102.   It’s been hot and humid for several days in the Southland and more heat is on the way.
