Secret Service investigating possible hacker attack at Sears

Another major U.S. retailers may have been the target of hackers. The U.S. Secret Service is reportedly investigating a possible security breach at Sears, according to Bloomberg. The website quotes an anonymous source “… familiar with the investigation.” The government agency is already looking into major hack attacks on Target and Neiman Marcus. This latest development comes as struggling Sears has been attempting a comeback. More here.

Powerful storm pounds Burbank and the Southland today

Burbank and the rest of the Southland is getting pounded today by much-anticipated winter storm slow rolling through our region. The strong system moved in overnight and is expected to linger through tomorrow bringing at least 2-to-4 inches in Los Angeles area and 4-to-7 inches in the valleys and Inland Empire. Cloudy skies and sunshine in Burbank today, but rain is coming

Sunshine off and on in Burbank today, where it has been mostly cloudy skies and cool temperatures. The high is expected to reach only into the mid-60s. Weather watchers say a couple of winter storms are approaching the Southland and the raindrops are expected to start falling some time this evening. The storms are expected to deliver a one-two-punch to the Southland, with the second on Friday predicted to be a serious soaker. Mega Millions jackpot leaps to $216 million!

Money, money, money! The Mega Millions jackpot is growing again. More than 2.2  million tickets were bought for last night’s draw — but none was a jackpot winner, according to lottery officials. Tuesday’s numbers: 12, 18, 25, 35, 66, and the Mega Ball 15. The jackpot rolled over to $216 million! When the money pot hits that level, lottery fever spreads and the lines for Mega Million tickets get longer.  The next draw is Friday, February 28.

More developments for Facebook. The world’s largest social network has more than a billion monthly users, however, not many of them bothered to use Facebook email. Oscar’s big night of glitz and glamour is less than a week away. Today is the deadline for members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to cast their ballots in the race for Oscar. The balloting, both paper and online, officially opened on Friday, February 14. All ballots must be in by 5 p.m. Pacific Time today. Mega Millions jackpot nears $200 million!

The pile of money just got bigger in the Mega Millions lottery. Again, the six winning numbers proved to be elusive for the players in that game. The jackpot has been growing since it was hit on January 3 for $61 million. The lucky numbers from last night’s draw: 23, 29, 32, 45, 46 and the Mega Ball 15. The jackpot rolled over to $195 million — but it could leap the $200 million mark by the next draw — Tuesday, February 25.

Pink to perform at the Oscars 2014

Pink has been added to the roster of performers for the 86th Academy Awards ceremony set for a week from this Sunday. Walmart still planning a mega store in Burbank

The Great Indoors site at the Empire Center in Burbank is still vacant and probably will be that way for a while. That doesn’t mean the world’s largest retailer, Walmart, has lost interest in constructing a proposed 143,000 square foot supercenter at 1301 North Victory Place. Not hardly.
