   Actress and funny lady, Amy Poehler, has a new book coming out. “Yes Please” will be published by a new imprint of  HarperCollins called Dey Street Books. The “Today Show” website  was the first to reveal the book cover. Poehler reportedly will dish up advice about friendship, parenting, and oh yes, her experience in the rough and tumble entertainment biz. Doctors determine Donald Sterling is “mentally incapacitated”

Yet another new development in the Los Angeles Clippers/Donald Sterling drama. CNN is reporting today that sources are saying banned Clippers owner, Donald Sterling, has been found to be “mentally incapacitated” by two neurologists. Los Angeles Clippers sold for $2 billion?

Another shocking development in the Los Angeles Clippers/Donald Sterling saga tonight.  ESPN is reporting there is now an agreement between the Sterling Family Trust and  billionaire businessman Steve Ballmer. The former CEO of Microsoft  apparently has won the bidding war for the Clippers with an offer of $2 billion. Bill to protect victims of college violence clears state Assembly

A  state bill, which would force colleges to report certain violent crimes to local authorities, cleared an important hurdle today. The California Assembly passed AB 1433 by an overwhelming vote of 74-0. The legislation, authored by local Assemblyman Mike Gatto, would require colleges  to report attacks like sexual assaults, particularly rape, and hate crimes to police, unless the victim asked that it not be reported to authorities.  Recently several California colleges, among them USC and Occidental College, have come under scrutiny for their handling of these type of... “The Shield” actor, Michael Jace’s, life has turned into a real police drama. Today the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office charged Jace with murder in connection with the shooting death of his wife last Monday.. Police say the actor called 9-1-1 Monday night to say he had shot his wife. April Jace was discovered in the hallway of the couple’s Los Angeles area home. She had been shot multiple times. Internet giant, eBay, is the latest victim of a massive cyber attack. The global marketplace company posted an announcement on its website today “…  asking all eBay users (both buyers and sellers) to change their passwords…” There reportedly are 145 million eBay users worldwide. The security breach apparently occurred sometime between “late February and early March” of 2014, but only detected two weeks ago, according to Forbes. Lots of clouds in the sky along with sunshine and cool temperatures in Burbank. It’s a little breezy, too. A dramatic change from last Tuesday, when we were in the middle of a spring heat wave and the temperatures were in the 90s by noon. Today we’ll be lucky to reach the low 70s. Dewey the dragon new mascot for Burbank libraries

Catching up: New mascot for Burbank library feted

The studious and very green new mascot for the Burbank library was unveiled at a ceremony last Wednesday. Dewey the Dragon is the creation of Burbank artist Chris Runco. Last March, the community development and leadership organization, Burbank Neighborhood Leadership Program, launched a contest to find a “creative mascot” to promote the city’s three library branches. They got more than a hundred entries. The unveiling of Dewey took place at the Buena Vista branch of the Burbank library.

NASA prepares to launch saucer-shaped aircraft

It looks like some alien flying saucer, but it did not come from outer space. NASA’s saucer-shaped test vehicle is the creation of experts at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in nearby La Cañada Flintridge. Scientists hope it will lead to future missions on Mars involving human exploration. The aircraft is called the Low-Density Supersonic Decelerator (LDSD) project.  Here’s a chance to help out a good cause and have breakfast as well. The 50th annual Burbank Community YMCA pancake breakfast is today from 7:30-11:30 a.m. at 321 East Magnolia Boulevard. On the menu pancakes, sausage, fruit,  juice, and coffee. The price, $5 per person. Children under 5 eat for free.
