Glendale brush fire 30% contained, but still a threat

A brush fire is burning for a second day in the hills above Brand Park in Glendale. The fire broke out around 12:30 p.m. yesterday and quickly grew to 150 acres. Talk of the Town: Burbank City Council, utility rate hikes, and labor costs

The Burbank City Council will again be crunching budget numbers tonight during a special city council meeting. At the June 10 meeting, the council majority shocked the over-confident staff by not approving utility rate increases for electric, water, refuse, and sewer. The actress known for  her “million dollar legs” moved into the estate on Stone Canyon Road shortly after it was constructed in 1937. First day of summer!

Some fabulous weather for the first weekend of the summer. Sunny and warm days with temps dropping down into the mid-60s at night. Highs in the 80s in Burbank today, tomorrow, and through at least the beginning of the new week. Summertime weather makes the living pretty special here in Burbank and the rest of the Southland.

Burbank Police arrest arson suspect

A suspect in connection with two suspicious fires in Burbank is being held on $50,000 bail today. Earlier this week, the  fires broke out in two trash dumpsters within a block of each other. Mountain lion alert for Burbank

Burbank Police have issue an alert following two “separate mountain lion sightings” in residential areas this week. The wild cat was seen in neighborhoods near the edge of the Verdugo mountains. Elephant Bar Restaurant in Burbank closes as part of bankruptcy filing

As some diners have discovered, the Elephant Bar Restaurant in Downtown Burbank has closed. On Monday, June 16, S.B. Restaurant Company, the parent of the Elephant Bar Global Grill/Wok Kitchen chain, reportedly filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
