Ex-Burbank Police official in hot water over email jokes

Tom Angel got quite a send off from Burbank Police and city officials last June, when he made the move from Deputy Chief back to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department where he retired six years ago. Angel took over as Chief of Staff  at LASD. Back in 2010, Angel joined the Burbank PD, at the request of Chief LaChasse. During the June shindig, Scott LaChasse is quoted, on Myburbank, as praising Angel saying “a truly noble decision for (DC Angel) to come here in Burbank’s time of need.”... Read More →

Burbank on Parade Day, pancakes, food trucks and more

Burbank on Parade has evolved into a huge all day affair called “Burbank on Parade and Family Festival.” The theme for the 35th annual parade is “Celebrating Our Heroes!” There will be plenty to do before and after the bands, floats, and equestrian units roll down Olive Avenue. “We’re making it a whole day of family activities,” said festival chair, Ross Benson, in a news release. “There will be things to do for all ages from young kids to seniors and music everyone will enjoy.” Here’s a list of just some... Legendary artist Prince dies at 57

Today’s news that the Purple Prince of Pop and R& B has passed away, stunned and shocked many  of his fans, friends, and fellow musicians. Prince reportedly died at his home in Chanhassen, Minnesota this morning at the age of 57. No cause of death was given. Kobe Bryant retires from the NBA

Number 24, Kobe Bryant, reminded everyone last night what kind of player he has been during his record-setting 20 seasons with the Lakers. During the past few months of his final season, it has seemed many times Bryant was limping into retirement — a shadow of the player he used to be. Burbank Walmart set to open soon – hiring underway

The converting of the old Great Indoors site into a new Walmart Supercenter is nearly complete in Burbank’s Empire Center. “We currently project opening in June,” according to Delia Garcia, Director of Communications for Walmart. After months of controversy, the remodeling has been steady and uneventful. Burbank is getting a serious dose of April showers. It started last Thursday afternoon with showers steady enough to force many Burbankers to bring out the umbrellas and cold weather gear. Yesterday began with some cloudy threatening skies in the morning, which soon opened up to deliver rain off and on most of the day.
