California continues to have the golden touch when it comes to winning lottery bucks. Someone in Morro Bay bought a Mega Millions lottery ticket for yesterday’s game that is now worth $133 million!  The ticket was purchased at Bottle Liquor  999 Main Street.

The winning numbers: 4, 10, 26, 32, 41, and Mega Ball 31. Another ticket bought in the Golden State had all but the Mega Ball — it’s worth $506,242.

The next Mega Millions draw is Tuesday, August 31.

The Mega Millions jackpot is stuffed with even more greenbacks today. No lottery ticket had all of yesterday’s winning numbers, so the jackpot got pumped up to $133 million. The winning numbers: 4, 23, 24, 28, 32, and the Mega Ball 31.

They didn’t win the jackpot, but three lucky players in the Golden State got all the correct numbers, except for the Mega Ball. Their tickets are worth $136,675 each. The next Mega Millions draw is Friday, August 27.

Mega Millions jackpot surges to $115 million, two tickets bought in CA each worth more than half-a-million bucks

The Mega Millions jackpot is on a money roll. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger.  Once again, no ticket in yesterday’s draw held all of the winning numbers: 4, 13, 20, 29, 48, and Mega Ball 36. So the jackpot has ballooned to $115 million!!

Also, a couple of consolation prizes from Friday’s Mega Millions draw are large enough to pay-off some lingering debt or provide a nice retirement or beef-up that sagging investment portfolio. Two tickets, bought in the Golden State, have all but the Mega Ball — each is worth $667,352.

Mega Millions jackpot at $42 million plus two local players win big

Fronnie Lewis
August 1st, 2010

The Mega Millions jackpot is bulging with dough once again. No one picked all of the winning numbers for last Friday’s game. The numbers were: 11, 30, 40, 48, 52, and the Mega Ball 42. In California, one Mega Millions’ ticket, bought for that game, had every number except the Mega Ball — it’s worth $182, 348.  The jackpot is at least $42 million  for the Tuesday, August 3, drawing.

Meanwhile, that $64 million jackpot  I blogged about last month has been claimed by two Southern California telephone company workers. Zahra Vasseghi of Agoura Hills and Thu Thao Truong of El Monte have been playing both the Mega Millions and SuperLotto Plus together for the past six months. On July 16, they hit the jackpot by matching all six of the winning numbers in the Mega Millions draw.

They intend to keep working for now and help their families as well as donate to charity. Oh, and they’re also going to Vegas and plan “.. to go to the Bellagio and get a suite!” … according to the Mega Millions website.

By the way, they chose the cash option, which means their ticket is worth $41.7 million.  The lucky ticket was purchased at the Smoke N’ Stuff at 750 West 7th Street in Los Angeles. The owner of that business received $320,000 for selling the winning ticket.

Mega Millions jackpot grows to $64 million

Fronnie Lewis
May 25th, 2010

The greenbacks are stacking up again in the Mega Millions lottery game. The jackpot is up to at least $64 million for tonight’s drawing. Also, there’s a lucky ticket holder from last Friday’s Mega Millions draw. The winning numbers from that game: 15, 20, 23, 26, 30, and the Mega Ball 17.

A ticket sold in California has all the winning numbers, except the Mega Ball. That ticket is worth $830,872. I’d say that’s a humdinger of a return on a dollar investment. That kind of cash could ease a lot of those economic pains brought on by the recession.

Tonight’s big Mega Millions drawing is at 8 p.m.

$266 million winning lottery ticket sold in the Southland!

Fronnie Lewis
May 5th, 2010

UPDATE: May 6, 2010

The lucky Mega Millions jackpot winning couple has been identified. They are Jacki Wells Cisneros and Gilbert Cisneros. The wife was working as an overnight news producer at KNBC here in Burbank, when she found out she had a lottery ticket worth $266 million! The Los Angeles Times has story and video — including a shot of those winning numbers here.

Money worries are pretty much over for one lucky Southland couple. They own the only jackpot winning ticket from yesterday’s multi-state Mega Millions game. That ticket is worth a staggering $266 million! Whether they decided to take their winnings in a lump sum or 26 payments, it’s going to be a lot of dough! The odds of winning that jackpot, 1 in 175 million.

At around 7 p.m. last night, I dropped by the 7-Eleven at Alameda Avenue and Glenoaks Boulevard, on the border of Burbank and Glendale, and it was packed with folks buying lottery tickets. I hope one of them got lucky and at least won a few bucks in that game.

The winning lottery ticket was sold at L&L Hawaiian BBQ, 8760 East Washington Boulevard in Pico Rivera. The winners holding that hot ticket aren’t ready to step into the spotlight and be identified. However, there’s a lot of chatter on the Internet about them and their good fortune. Over on LA Observed, Kevin Roderick is reporting the wife works here in Burbank at the local NBC station and recently, the husband lost his job.

The winning numbers from Tuesday’s Mega Millions game are: 9, 21, 31, 35, 43, and the Mega Ball 8. Seven other Southern California players got a piece of the action when they purchased tickets with all of the lucky numbers except the Mega Ball. Each of those tickets can be cashed in for $179,428.

Those runner-up tickets were sold at the following locations:

 7-Eleven, 13701 Hawthorne Boulevard, Hawthorne

 7-Eleven, 9805 Prospect Street, Santee

East Highland Ranch Valero, 27767 Baseline Street, Highland

 7-Eleven, 3259 Associated Road, Fullerton

Corner Market, 10505 Mount Gleason Avenue, Sunland

El Mexicano Market, 6625 South Avalon Boulevard, Los Angeles

Seafood City Supermarket, 16130 Nordhoff Street, North Hills

Tuesday’s win brings the total of Mega Millions jackpot tickets bought in California to 13. The largest lottery jackpot ever won in the Golden State was for a Mega Millions game on November 15, 2005 — it was a humongous $315 million, according to the California Lottery website.

Now, the Mega Millions lottery starts over with a new jackpot of $12 million. The drawing for the next game is Friday, May 7 at 8 p.m.

Mega Millions jackpot jumps to $266 million!

Fronnie Lewis
May 3rd, 2010

The Mega Millions lottery game is turning into a real hoot! You gotta remember, folks in 39 states are playing this game. Nevertheless, no one got all six numbers correct in Friday’s drawing. The winning numbers were 14, 20, 41, 47, 53, and the Mega Ball 40. In California, five players picked five numbers right– but missed the Mega Ball. Each of those tickets is worth $204, 482.

So another tumble for the jackpot, which now stands at $266 million. The next drawing is tomorrow, Tuesday, May 4, at 8 p.m.
