National Night Out returns to the popular Chandler Walk/Bike Path in Burbank tonight. The annual nationwide celebration promotes neighborhood camaraderie and strives to strengthen the ties between law enforcement and the community. In the past, National Night Out has drawn crowds to the Chandler Bike Path. However in 2014, the event was moved to the parking lot of the Burbank Police headquarters. Johnny Carson Park grand reopening celebration today

A major bash planned this evening at Johnny Carson Park. The grand re-opening celebration is set for the 5-8 p.m. with free food, giveaways, face painting, music, and even a kids zone for the little ones. Burbank’s Parks and Recreation Department is spearheading the event. The park at 400 South Bob Hope Drive, across from the Burbank Studios, reopened quietly earlier this month. Burbank is rolling out the welcome mat this week for the members of the Zimbabwe and Botswana teams participating in the Special Olympics World Games 2015. The Media City is “…one of nearly one hundred communities from San Diego to San Luis Obispo that has volunteered to serve as a Host Town,” according to a news release. Long time  Dodger Stadium organist, Nancy Bea Hefley, was apparently being phased out and replaced with “pre-recorded pop and hip hop music” at the ballpark.
