Barack Obama listens as his running mate Joe Biden gives a fiery speech on the campaign trail.

President-elect Barack Obama is not the only hot literary property on the winning Democratic ticket. His running mate, Joe Biden, is now the subject of a book deal that will produce a biography of the soon-to-be vice-president.

Veteran political reporter Jules Witcover will write Biden’s biography with Henry Ferris at William Morrow acting as editor. Ferris was the editor on Obama’s first book, the best seller, “Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance.”

The 81-year-old Witcover has been covering Biden’s career for decades, written a number of political books and a syndicated column. The new Biden book is scheduled to be released in 2010.

Meanwhile, Biden’s autobiography “Promises to Keep” was published in the summer 2007, but sales jumped when the Delaware senator accepted the second slot on the Democratic ticket back August.
