Burbank is rolling out the welcome mat this week for the members of the Zimbabwe and Botswana teams participating in the Special Olympics World Games 2015. The Media City is “…one of nearly one hundred communities from San Diego to San Luis Obispo that has volunteered to serve as a Host Town,” according to a news release.
As part of being a Host Town, the Burbank community will help the athletes connect with the Southland through a series of private events from July 21 through July 24. Some of those events reportedly will include visits to ” DeBell Golf Club, Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros., and the Burbank Water and Power Eco-Campus.”
There are three special events open to the public. Here’s the list:

Opening ceremony for the Special Olympics World Games 2015 will be in the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, July 25, kicking off 9 days of competition featuring more than 7,000 athletes from at least 177 countries.
