Heat watch in the Southland: Cooling centers open in Burbank

The temperatures are soaring in the Southland and that has prompted an excessive heat watch for Los Angeles County. Today in Burbank the high reach 100! The weather is expected to remain very hot with an increase in humidity; these factors will create “… a prolonged period of well above normal and possibly dangerous heat beginning Wednesday and continue through Friday,” according to the National Weather Service.

Late Tuesday, two designated cooling centers were opened in Burbank. A news release from Burbank Public Information Officer Drew Sugars stated:”Residents are encouraged to seek relief from the heat by visiting either the Buena Vista Library at 300 N. Buena Vista Street or the Burbank Central Library at 110 N. Glenoaks Boulevard.”

Buena Vista

Mon-Thurs 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Burbank Central Library

Mon-Thurs   9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Friday 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m
