A community meeting on the California high-speed rail project is set to begin this evening at 5 p.m. in Burbank. This is the latest in a series of open house meetings to update locals on the first high-speed rail system in the nation, expected to run 800 miles from Sacramento to San Diego. Around twenty-four stations are being planned in the system — one is in Burbank.
This evening’s meeting will focus on the alternatives under consideration for the Palmdale to Burbank section, which will travel from the Palmdale Transportation Center through the Antelope Valley and San Fernando Valley to the Burbank airport. The meeting will be held at the Buena Vista Library 300 North Buena Vista Street. The event is sponsored by the California High Speed Rail Authority.
Not a productive meeting.
The start time alone was BAD-5pm.
Overloaded by staff, crowded with predominately Sun Valley and points North residents.
Loads of displays, lack of ANY Public Comment, let alone interaction.
Airport Authority staff was very helpful for many, State folks worth–less.
“crowded with predominately Sun Valley and points North residents.”
Those valley types … with their non-Burbank selves! People who might … might … might actually want a rail system throughout California ..
It was a regional “community” meeting if I’m not mistaken. Perhaps you can be the bouncer next time for all those people you dislike?
As for a “regional” community meeting, let’s check.
Pacoima on Saturday May 16
Burbank on Monday May 18
Sylmar on Wednesday May 27
San Fernando on Thursday May 28
Foothill Communities on Saturday May 30
Santa Clarita Valley on Monday June 1
Palmdale on Tuesday June 2
Acton/Agua Dulce on Saturday June 6.
In the Thursday May 21 Edition of the San Fernando Valley Sun
( sanfernandosun.com )
there is plenty of coverage. Read on and there’s more in Espanol.
Too bad al was mistaken.
Some people actually go to work to make ends meet and couldn’t make those dates … I know right?
Rationalizations for exclusion – something I heard LOTS of during the day labor center & homeless shelter debates in Burbank. “It’s not that I hate them … BUT”
I’ll note that you didn’t mention Sun Valley – which was one of your main complaints. I guess you think those “Sun Valley & North residents” should go to the Pacoima meeting rather than the one in Burbank?
Were you forced to hold your nose? Maybe an ID / legal resident check might be in order?
