UPDATE: Wednesday, March 17th, 2010
A sizzling St. Patty’s Day in the Southland. At noon, it was 81 degrees in Burbank. Hmm, the weather’s not the only thing heating up Media City right now.
Get out the sunglasses! It’s going to be a scorcher in the Southland today. Highs in the 70s along some beaches and the mid-80s in some inland cities like Burbank. The temperature hovering near 75 here in Media City at around 11 a.m. — the high of 85 is predicted.
We’re heading into spring, but it feels like summer. Go figure.
The sun is hot but don’t water any plants in Burbank or you just might get arrested. Why don’t we have a cruelty to plants law ?
By the way last month my bill from the burbank water and power was almost 300.00. what a frickin rip off!!!
Scott,
I hear what you’re saying. I feel your pain. My bill from water and power is high as well. After all the winter rain, right now our lawns are green, plants, and flowers are growing.
However, I remember last summer when many Burbank residents let their yards go brown to try to keep their water bills from going through the roof. Go brown or pay skyrocketing water rates. Not a fair choice for Burbank residents.
FYI I don’t plan to water my yard at all this summer. The bills are to high as it is. My street never has any parking so I am planning to bring a truck load of gravel and park where my grass once was. It saves water and adds parking so that’s my plan.
Echo,
Very interesting plan.
So people are losing their jobs and in a struggle just to survive. The rates for water and electric just keep increasing. Why ?
It’s time they tell us just how much the top people at Burbank Water and Power are paid. When did they get their last raises and how big were those raises.
It really isn’t fair to charge more than people can afford just to make a few people rich. I suspect that is exactly what they are and have been doing.
Who wants to bet the city will say pay amounts and raises are classified information ? If they do I guess we know excatly why don’t we ? It is because we would be outraged how much we struggle to pay a few people.
There is a need for change.
Ryan
Very good question. Maybe it is time to force some pay cuts on these people so the rest of us can survive. Is there some ceo of the water and power earning some obscene amount of money ? If that is true i say hand the ceo a pink slip and cut the rest of us a break.
I like the idea of starting a round of cut backs and lay offs before raising any rates. You and I both know they have extra staff at the top that does not really do anything to earn the money.
How could we ever survive without these wizzards telling us what toilet to buy, what refrigerator to buy, what faucet to buy and just how often to water our plants. Just how did humanity ever survive without these wizzards ?
Here is the sad fact. These wizzards are telling us the end is near unless we do as they say. Can you spell threat and intimidation from the desperate wizzards ?
