A lot of chatter today about the surprise (too most of us) announcement that Comcast has struck a deal to buy Time Warner Cable for $45 billion. Wall Street big money guys are thrilled with the deal, but consumers are worried about higher rates and a deep drop in customer service. What’s the impact on Hollywood? Deadline has that.

Celebrity chef, Paula Deen,  is trying to revive her brand and image with a new deal. Deen’s career hit the skids last year, after she got engulfed in a controversy involving sexual harassment allegations and racial slurs. Deen’s new deal reportedly will provide a shot of new capital in the range of $75-$100 million. More on Businessweek.

There’s a tight race for the Best Picture Oscar. It’s a three-way: “American Hustle,” “12 Years A Slave,” and “Gravity.” Could the Academy voters’ second choice decide the winner?  The Hollywood Reporter  has a story about this possibility.
