Smart & Final puts in a bid for Haggen store in Burbank

The future is looking brighter for the Haggen grocery store at 3830 West Verdugo Avenue in Burbank. This is one of the around 100 stores Haggen is selling off in an effort to right its struggling company, which filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy in early September. New Haggen grocery store closing in Burbank

The doors of the new Haggen grocery store are still open this weekend, but not for long. Last Thursday, the financially troubled grocer announced it was throwing in the towel on an ill-fated expansion plan and closing more than 75 stores in Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and California — including the one in Burbank at 3830 West Verdugo Avenue. Hackers attack Kmart, Albertsons hit for a second time

Kmart is the latest retailer to be attacked by hackers. The disclosure was made on October 9 “… our Kmart store payment data systems were infected with a form of malware that was undetectable by current anti-virus systems. We were able to quickly remove the malware. However, we believe certain debit and credit card numbers have been compromised, ” according to a news release from the company. Kmart will be offering free credit monitoring protection for those who shopped at its stores during September through last Thursday.  More... Read More →
