Seven utility boxes in Burbank get creative paint jobs

Have you noticed several utility boxes in Burbank have been turned into original art pieces? A call went out last summer for seven artists to showcase their talent on seven utility boxes under the theme, “Just Imagine.” Artist, Jennifer Turnbull, was selected to work her magic on the utility box on Beachwood Drive between Verdugo and Olive Avenues. New hotel set to open in Burbank tomorrow

A new hotel is set to open in Burbank tomorrow. The SpringHill Suites, managed by Marriott, has been under construction for more than a year. Yesterday, work crews were out putting the final touches on the 170 suite boutique-style hotel. Art festival returns to Downtown Burbank this weekend

Downtown Burbank will be alive this weekend with the creative vibe and works of more than 100 artists from traditional painters, photographers, sculptors to special effects wizards and hip urban street painters. The art festival will once again take over several blocks of San Fernando Boulevard, between  Angeleno Avenue and Magnolia Boulevard. Former “American Idol” judge and Aerosmith frontman, Steven Tyler, is center stage once again. This time, as one of the celebrity portraits  in the “Collection Suites” of a solo exhibit by Southland artist, Rosalind “Roz” Williams. Tyler’s image shares space with portraits of entertainers like Prince, Lena Horne, Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, and Whitney Houston. Downtown Burbank ARTS Festival wraps up today

Art lovers and the curious were drawn to a blocked-off section of San Fernando Boulevard, between Olive Avenue and Magnolia Boulevard, for the biannual Downtown Burbank ARTS Festival, yesterday. Final preparations are underway for the Downtown Burbank ARTS Festival this weekend, which is going to be huge! Nearly 100 artists and street painters are scheduled to show-off their best between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 14 and 15, along a four block stretch of San Fernando Boulevard between Magnolia Boulevard and Olive Avenue in downtown. The 9th stamp in the American Treasures series was released yesterday, and it featured a classic work by renowned American Painter, Winslow Homer. The new 44-cent stamp pays tribute to Homer by displaying his “Boys in a Pasture,” an oil-on-canvas painting completed in 1874.
