550 Holiday Baskets delivered, more than 100 bikes needed

Around 550 families are enjoying some holiday cheer thanks to a huge effort by hundreds of volunteers in Burbank. Last Saturday from a staging area at George Washington Elementary School over on North Lincoln Street, weeks of food collection and donations culminated with the delivered of Holiday Baskets to eligible families with children. Bikes urgently needed for Burbank Holiday Basket Program

An urgent call went out in Burbank today for 150 bicycles for some hopeful kids. Former Burbank City Council member/volunteer, Dave Golonski, made the plea at today’s Burbank Coordinating Council meeting/luncheon at the Little White Chapel on North Avon Street here in B-town. During an update on the annual Holiday Basket Program, Golonski announced the BCC had received requests for 150 bicycles from parents unable to make this Christmas wish come true for their children. Holiday Baskets food drive in Burbank tomorrow

The annual Holiday Basket Program in Burbank is heading into its final week, with a major citywide food drive tomorrow, December 5. Volunteers will be outside local grocery stores asking for food donations from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Last year over 550 needy families, including more than 2,300 individuals, received holiday gifts of mostly food, clothing, and toys from the program, according to the  Burbank Coordinating Council. Burbank Holiday Baskets Program gets major donation

Preparations are in full swing for the annual Holiday Baskets program, which provides gifts for low-income families with children in Burbank schools. The program got a huge boost from the Bob Hope Airport Holiday Charity Committee at the Burbank Coordinating Council December first meeting last Monday. Several members of the committee, Sherri Himelstein, Lucy Burghdorf,  and Rachael Warecki, showed up to donate gifts and a check for $3, 249. Some special entertainment at the December Burbank Coordinating Council meeting/luncheon at the Little White Chapel, 1711 North Avon Street in Burbank.  Three BCR clients sang Christmas carols, while their director Julie Larsen looked on with pride. BCR is a Burbank non-profit that provides day care and activities for children and adults with developmental disabilities. It has operated in Burbank since 1963. It’s that time of year again. The annual “Holiday Basket Program” is in full swing and volunteers are needed to help provide a little of the Christmas cheer to some low-income families with school age children in Burbank. Flashback to the BCC 80th anniversary bash

A big turnout for the 80th anniversary luncheon/celebration for the Burbank Coordinating Council on Monday, March 4, 2013. As a member, I joined many of the BCC faithful in attending this bash along with invited guests, volunteers from various non-profits, community leaders and activists. Burbank Holiday Basket Program needs money and volunteers

The Holiday Basket Program is kicking into high gear with deliveries planned for this Saturday. The program provides Christmas gifts and cheer for hundreds of Burbank families who would otherwise have a very grim or sparse holiday.  Last year, over 500 families, including 1400 children, received a Holiday Basket  filled with gifts and food. The Burbank Coordinating Council is one hard working organization. As it celebrates birthday number 79 — the council, led by President Janet Diel, shows no sign of slowing down. The BCC’s Holiday Basket Program reportedly provided food and gifts for over 500 needy families during the Christmas season last year. Now the attention turns to summer and fundraising for its campership program, which has been in operation since 1936. The program provides one week of summer camp for underprivileged kids, ages 8-18. Holiday Highlights: Holiday Basket Program

More than 555 Burbank families are enjoying some holiday cheer, thanks  to this year’s very successful Holiday Basket Program sponsored by the Burbank Coordinating Council. The deliveries, by volunteers, began officially on December 17 and were completed a few days ago.   Around 500 Burbank families are enjoying a happier holiday season thanks to the giving caring spirit of the Burbank Coordinating Council, its donors, and volunteers.
