Burbank on Parade Day, pancakes, food trucks and more

Burbank on Parade has evolved into a huge all day affair called “Burbank on Parade and Family Festival.” The theme for the 35th annual parade is “Celebrating Our Heroes!” There will be plenty to do before and after the bands, floats, and equestrian units roll down Olive Avenue. “We’re making it a whole day of family activities,” said festival chair, Ross Benson, in a news release. “There will be things to do for all ages from young kids to seniors and music everyone will enjoy.” Here’s a list of just some... Burbank Beat: Egg-Stravaganza, Burbank on Parade

Saturday, March 26 — Children all over B-town are gearing up for a rite of spring — the annual Spring Egg-Stravaganza. Hundreds if not thousands of kids and their camera-toting parents, relatives, and friends will converge on McCambridge Park 1515 North Glenoaks Boulevard for the festivities tomorrow. Updated: Burbank on Parade 2015: Gunfight on Olive Avenue

Under threatening skies yesterday, Burbank on Parade paid tribute to Burbank as “City of the Wild Wild West.” Leading off this year’s parade “Gunfighters for Hire.” The performers were dressed for the period and packing their sidearms. Along the parade route, Keystone Street to Lomita Street on Olive Avenue, these hotheads would settle their disputes with a series of bang, bang, shoot’em ups. The parade spectators loved it! Grand Marshal announced for Burbank on Parade 2015

The theme of the 34th annual Burbank on Parade is “Burbank– City of the Wild Wild West.”  Yesterday the selection of veteran actor, Gerald McRaney, as the Grand Marshal was announced in a news release. McRaney is a familiar face on television. He’s appeared in numerous series from back in the day “Gunsmoke” (1955), to “Simon and Simon” (1981-1989), “Major Dad” (1989-1993), “Touched by an Angel” (1995-1998), “Deadwood” (2005-2006), “Justified” (2013), “House of Cards” (2013-2014), and “Longmire” (2012-2014). Burbank on Parade 2014

Burbank on Parade 2014 rolled down Olive Avenue in the Media City today — with smiles, waves and no raindrops. A wet system apparently swept through overnight leaving behind cool temps, light winds, some clouds, but mostly sunshine. A wonderful spring day for a parade. Crowds of Burbank fans lined the avenue to watch a celebration of the city. More photos coming.

Will it rain on Burbank on Parade tomorrow morning? The parade organizers are probably pondering that question right now. Today the skies over the Media City have been dark and threatening at times. On occasion, the sun pushed through the clouds, but did not stay around very long. Also, the temperatures are in the cool 60s and it’s a bit breezy. Burbank teacher named grand marshal of Burbank on Parade 2014

Another honor for Burbank top-notch teacher, Rebecca Mieliwocki. You might remember, that Mieliwocki won the National Teacher of the Year Award back in 2012. The Luther Burbank Middle School English teacher kicked off a year-long journey of celebration with a ceremony at the White House and recognition by President Obama, followed by a tour of 30 U.S. states and nine countries — where she reportedly represented American’s school teachers. Burbank on Parade tomorrow in the Media City

Preparations are in the final stages for tomorrow’s edition of Burbank on Parade. Fundraiser for Burbank on Parade

A fundraiser tonight for one of Burbank’s most popular events — Burbank on Parade. The parade is filled with marching bands, floats, vintage cars and much, much more. It’s the spirit of Burbank on display and “…  showcases the people and groups in town”, according to a news release. The dinner fundraiser will be at the Tallyrand Restaurant 1700 West Olive Avenue in Burbank, from 5 to 9 p.m. January 15. Burbank on Parade tomorrow

Rain or shine, Burbank on Parade is set to roll at 11 a.m. along a stretch of Olive Avenue between Keystone and Lomita streets tomorrow morning. “The World of Aviation and Its Heroes” is the theme. The grand marshals are two Southland aviation pioneers, Bob Gilliland and Clay Lacy. There will be the usual floats, marching bands, and equestrian units. Burbank on Parade is organized by a committee of volunteers.  The Bob Hope Airport is the presenting sponsor.
