Composting During Droughts workshop

 

It’s fall. A good time to get into the composting groove. Check out one of the Composting During Droughts workshops. Learn how yard clippings can build soil, hold water, and save you money. Workshops are free and family friendly. Also, if you’re a Burbank resident you can get a free compositing bin.

Celebrate the Earth this Saturday

Big celebration for Earth Day 2013 at the Burbank Recycle Center, 500 South Flower Street, on Saturday, April 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. “The community is invited to come enjoy live music, gourmet food trucks, rare behind the scenes tours of the recycle center, and learn about the numerous sustainability resources that are available, ” according to a news release sent out by the Recycle Center. Compost event in Burbank today with freebies and giveaways

Today you can learn the right moves for recycling waste materials into rich environmentally-friendly compost at the Burbank Recycle Center at 500 South Flower Street. It starts at 8 a.m. runs until noon,  with a compost workshop set to get underway at 10 a.m. The event will feature giveaways, including free compost bins for eligible Media City residents. Big event at the Burbank Recycle Center

The Burbank Recycle Center, over at 500 South Flower Street, is planning a fun-packed family fair for this Saturday, April 21. As you might expect, the team there will be offering environmentally helpful things like document shredding, mulch and compost giveaway, free reusable bags along with live music, food trucks, exhibits, cute animals to thrill the kids, face painting, games, and a ton of other stuff.  It all starts at 11 a.m. and wraps up around 4 p.m. More details here.

New operator for Burbank Recycle Center After heated debate at its meeting Tuesday, December 6, the Burbank City Council voted to assign the operating agreement for the controversial  Burbank Recycle Center to Burrtec Waste Industries. The vote was 4-1 with Councilman, Dr. David Gordon, strongly opposing the arrangement. Lately, the Burbank City Council has been peppered with tough questions from residents about the status and alleged mismanagement of the Burbank Recycle Center over on South Flower Street.
