JLo backed company buys Fuse network

Entertainer Jennifer Lopez is known for her work as a singer and actress. Lopez is also getting noticed for her behind the scenes business savvy. Lopez is the chief creative officer for Glendale-based company,  NUVOtv, which announced last Friday it will buy music-oriented Fuse network for $226 million. NUVOtv, an English language network aimed at Latinos, is seen in 23 million households. Time Warner in trouble with city of Los Angeles and Dodger fans

Time Warner Cable is in deep, deep trouble in the Southland. Today L.A. City Attorney, Mike Feuer, announced the filing of a multi-million-lawsuit against the area’s largest cable provider. The suit alleges the cable giant has “stiffed” the city of Los Angeles $10  million in franchise fees at a time when it was raking in billions from its customers. “That money would have funded 100 police officers and miles of sidewalk repair,”  Feuer is quoted on Deadline as saying during a news conference today. Comcast announces deal with four new minority-owned networks

The nation’s largest cable company, Comcast, announced  a sweeping deal today with four new minority-owned network with some famous names like Earvin “Magic “Johnson, Sean “Diddy”Combs, and filmmaker, Robert Rodriguez. Comcast did not suddenly decide to reach out to minorities. The deal was part of the conditions of last month’s controversial approval by the government of that mega-merger of Comcast/NBC Universal.
