Hollywood stars come out for Obama

Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama’s campaign coffers reportedly are $10 million richer after two star-studded fundraisers in Beverly Hills last night. That according to Variety, which has a detailed story about Obama’s appearances on its website today. Some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry attended a $28,500 a person courtyard dinner at the historic Greystone Mansion. Others paid $2,500 apiece for an affair at the Beverly Wilshire, which included a performance by Barbra Streisand. More Sarah books to hit the market

                             The small publisher of the only biography out of GOP vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been overwhelmed by the demand for the book. “Sarah: How A Hockey Mom Turned Alaska’s Political Establishment Upside Down” was first released in April with a slightly different title.  It didn’t start flying off bookstore shelves until GOP presidential candidate John McCain announced he had picked Palin as his running mate on August 29. Streisand to sing for Obama

Google Image Barbra Streisand rarely performs these days. Apparently, she has decided to do so for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. “The Diva” is scheduled to lift up that magnificent voice of hers in song at a star-studded Beverly Hills fundraiser next Tuesday, September 16. Variety reports that several hundred people are expected to attend the reception and concert at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. The ticket price, $2,500 a person. While the GOP V.P. nominee’s public profile continues to change with every new revelation, you would think there would be some stability in her published book bio.  Nope, not the case. When it was released in April of 2008, the book by Kaylene Johnson was called, “Sarah: How a Small Town Girl Turned Alaska’s Political Establishement on Its Ear.”   Barnes & Noble.com is still advertising the hardcover, which was ranked at 15 last night, for sale under the old title. The presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain made a bold move that demonstrated the changing times. Today, Senator McCain announced the selection of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential pick. The suspense and political intrigue are over!  The presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has picked Delaware Senator Joe Biden for the number two spot on the ticket. Senator Biden is the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Biden is an expert on foreign policy and familiar with foreign leaders and diplomats around the world. Nearly 100, 000 people reportedly have expressed outrage at FOX for using racism, prejudice, and fear to smear presumed Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama, that’s according to the Moveon.org political action website. Burbank Democratic Club endorses Barack Obama for President

   I dropped by the backyard cookout of the Burbank Democratic Club this evening. A spirited group of about 20 ate BBQ, sipped beverages of their choice, and discussed the state of the country and the world.
