NBC Universal: More cutbacks and layoffs

NBC Universal is showing signs of rising from the ratings cellar, but that has not stopped the cutbacks and layoffs by parent company, Comcast. (Disclosure: I am a former NBC employee). The Internet is buzzing with the latest reports of 500 employees getting the axe throughout the entertainment, news, and cable units. Comcast NBCUniversal hit with “Tonight Show” jokes and class action lawsuit

Comcast announces deal with four new minority-owned networks

The nation’s largest cable company, Comcast, announced  a sweeping deal today with four new minority-owned network with some famous names like Earvin “Magic “Johnson, Sean “Diddy”Combs, and filmmaker, Robert Rodriguez. Comcast did not suddenly decide to reach out to minorities. The deal was part of the conditions of last month’s controversial approval by the government of that mega-merger of Comcast/NBC Universal. Comcast completes deal for NBC Universal The largest cable company in the country is now the proud owner of an entertainment giant, NBC Universal. Comcast announced today that its deal to buy 51 per cent of NBC Universal is done. General Electric hangs onto the other 49 percent. New NBC Universal management team announced

Details coming out today about the management structure of the new NBC Universal. The NBC Universal Comcast marriage has not received the approval of the Feds yet, but certain business operations are moving ahead as if it’s a done deal.
