A shout out to Burbank Unified School District officials

Quick action by some officials in the Burbank Unified School District have turned a call out into a shout out for some watering issues at David Starr Jordan Middle School, 420 South Mariposa Street. Burbank school officials got called out on  Media City Groove for watering the front lawn at Jordan on a hot Labor Day, two weeks ago. Not only were the sprinklers going full force, but the watering occurred on Monday. Burbank allows outside irrigation only on Tuesdays and Saturdays.... Read More →

Convicted sex offender Amy Beck released from prison

Convicted sex offender and former Burbank school teacher, Amy Victoria Beck, is back on the streets again. Beck was paroled on March 20, 2011 after serving “… approximately 8 months in state prison,” according to James W. Symington III, Assistant Regional Administrator, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Beck, a popular teacher at David Starr Jordan Middle School, was convicted of having sex with a 14-year-old male student and sentenced to two years in prison on May 7, 2010. A Burbank parent shares her experience with the system

The new school year is only about a week old , but it already has been an ordeal for some Burbank middle school students and their parents. As I first reported on this blog about a week ago, A Burbank city funded, long-running,  and very successful after school program was axed at David Starr Jordan Middle School, leaving some parents scrambling to find a safe alternative for their children.
