Beer tasting at fall festival in Downtown Burbank on Saturday

Downtown Burbank is gearing up for tomorrow’s inaugural beer tasting and fall festival along several blocks of San Fernando Boulevard,  between Magnolia Boulevard and Angeleno Avenue.. For those with a love for suds, there will be reportedly 85 ice-cold craft beers on tap during two sessions of sampling: 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. or 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.  “Each session will showcase both local and out of state craft breweries,” according to a news release. The 4th Annual Downtown Burbank Car Classic is getting read to roll out tomorrow, August first, between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. There will be celebrity cars, custom vehicles, pre-1974 cars, exotics, and hot rods spanning several blocks on San Fernando Boulevard from Magnolia Boulevard to Angeleno Avenue. The Rink returns for the holiday season in Burbank

The Rink returns to Downtown Burbank. The parking lot of City Hall, at the corner of North 3rd Street and East Orange Grove Avenue, has been turned into “a magical winter wonderland,” not far from “hundreds of shops and restaurants decked out for the holiday season, according to a news release. A 90 minute skate is $10 plus $3 for skate rental. A Bobby the Seal rental is $6.00 A season pass will run you $159.  That’s for unlimited ice skating from Friday, November 28, 2014 through January 19, 2015.

OktoBURfest in Downtown Burbank

Beer, food, and music at the OktoBURfest in Downtown Burbank. You’ll get to sample 60 different beer varieties from 25 plus craft breweries. KCRW DJ Gary Calamar will be providing the electric sounds. OktoBURfest will be held in a specially constructed Biergarten outdoors on San Fernando Boulevard between Olive Avenue and Angeleno Avenue in Downtown Burbank.

Tickets are $45 for general admission (2:00 to 7:00 PM), and $55 for the VIP reception (12 noon to 2:00 PM). VIP tickets include access to rare and high quality drafts. More ticket information, including discounts for seniors and groups http://downtownburbankoktoburfest.eventbrite.com

It was a cooold night, but that did not stop the fun and entertainment at the 31st Annual Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony at city hall in Downtown Burbank, Saturday, November 7. After the ceremony, visitors were invited to take photos with Santa and Mrs.Claus. Also, an invitation was extended to visit the nearby downtown area, which was decked out for the holidays.

  Final preparations underway today for the Mayor’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Downtown Burbank. Big crowds usually show up for this yearly event. Kristi Yamaguchi thrills at The Rink in Downtown Burbank

Today Olympic skating champion-turned-author, Kristi Yamaguchi, made an appearance at The Rink in Downtown Burbank, to the delight of  some local school children. Yamaguchi’s original flight from Oakland got cancelled, but she hopped on another one and arrived shortly before noon at The Rink. Her first duty was to pose for photos and do interviews with the media. Yamaguchi was articulate and gracious. Not a hint  that a flight delay had put the event almost an hour behind schedule. The Rink in Downtown Burbank is getting some star power tomorrow. Olympic gold medal winner, Kristi Yamaguchi,  is scheduled to appear at the temporary ice rink, behind Burbank City Hall, on Wednesday, December 4. Since winning the Olympic gold in women’s singles skating in 1992, Yamaguchi has been very busy with various projects from professional skating to entertainment to philanthropy to writing and more. The Rink is open in Downtown Burbank. The city’s first temporary ice rink got its grand opening last Thursday. Burbank Mayor Emily Gabel-Luddy was one of those who laced up skates and took a spin or two or maybe three around the new ice. Rain or shine, Burbank ice rink opening ceremony is a go

  Downtown Burbank’s first ice skating rink is set to open with a ribbon cutting ceremony, entertainment, and, of course, ice skating tomorrow. Despite storm clouds rolling into the Southland, I’m told,  the festivities will go on “as planned.” Downtown Burbank merchants are behind this special holiday event, which they hope will  give a boost to the local economy by attracting visitors and the community to the area.
