Celebrity couple Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are looking for new digs. Carey and Cannon have put their Bel Aire mansion up for sale. The asking price: $12.995 million, according to the Zillow blog. The estate has 7 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, an indoor basketball court, and a custom nursery, which has been home to the couple’s twins Monroe and Moroccan. Also, the gated property has room to park 20 vehicles. Pink has been added to the roster of performers for the 86th Academy Awards ceremony set for a week from this Sunday. It was not the showdown many had hoped for, still it turned into the highest rated event  ever on American TV . Entertainers, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, have a new project together. The happily married twosome have signed on with Scholastic to published a children’s picture book, “Roc and Roe’s Twelve Days of Christmas,” featuring the couple’s twins Roc (Moroccan) and Roe (Monroe). “We are so excited to work with the Scholastic team on our Roc and Roe picture book and we can’t wait until this holiday season!” said Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey said in a news release. Around the Southland: Singer Katy Perry sells Hollywood Hills mansion

Pop diva, Katy Perry, is really getting a fresh start this new year. Perry finally sold the Hollywood Hills mansion she bought with ex-husband comedian/actor, Russell Brand, according to the Zillow blog. The estate was on the market last April for $6.9 million — it finally sold for $5.5 million. Perry apparently wanted a cash sell — and that may have been one of the reasons for the difficulty in finding a buyer. More here.

Beatle song to become a children’s book

  Ex-Beatle, Ringo Starr, will soon be a published children’s author. The rocker has snagged a deal with Simon & Schuster to turn his 1968 tune, “Octopus’s Garden” into an illustrated children’s book, according to a PR Newswire release. The song appeared on the Beatles album, “Abbey Road” (1969). The way the story goes, Starr composed the song while cruising on actor, Peter Seller’s yacht. Box office bonanza “Fast & Furious 6 ” burned rubber all over the competition Memorial Day weekend. Not a whole lot of new moves in this sequel, but moviegoers did not care. They love this franchise. “Fast &  Furious 6”  took in $120 million for its debut in the U.S. The top six films helped generate more than $300 million at the domestic box office, beating the previous record for a Memorial Day weekend. What a game! Despite that lengthy blackout in the second half , the Baltimore Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers 34-31. The Ravens had the momentum from the kick-of, but that weird power outage in the third quarter energized the 49ers — but not enough for the Niners to win it all. Today a Chicago jury came back with a verdict in the murder trial involving the shooting deaths of three members of entertainer Jennifer Hudson’s family: her mother 57-year-old Darnell Donerson, brother 29-year-old Jason Hudson, and 7-year-old nephew, Julian King. The jury convicted the brother-in-law of the Oscar-winning actress on all counts. Thirty-one-year-old William Balfour faces a mandatory life in prison term.
