Glendale authorities asking for help in finding arson suspects

Glendale authorities are asking for help in finding three arson suspects in connection with that brush fire above Brand Library last month. The fire broke out at around 12:30 p.m. on June 22 and scorched 150 acres of mountain terrain. No homes nor structures were damaged.  An investigation, which included interviews with witnesses, has determined the three-day blaze may have been arson, according to a notice posted on the City of Glendale website yesterday. Deja vu! Another car crashes into the same local Starbucks

The Starbucks coffee outlet at Western Avenue and Glenoaks Boulevard in Glendale shut down unexpectedly this afternoon, after a car crashed through the storefront, despite the safety bollards installed to prevent such mishaps. It happened shortly after 1 p.m. There were no customers in the Starbucks at the time and the driver, an 86-year-old woman, was apparently not hurt. Glendale Information Officer, Sergeant Thomas Lorenz, says the driver, who does not want to be identified, refused treatment from paramedics.
