Burbank City Council approves moratorium on McMansions

Burbank residents opposed to the “McMansion” trend are breathing a little easier today. Last Tuesday night, the Burbank City Council handed them a major victory by voting unanimously to ask staff to draft an Interim Development Control Ordinance or IDCO,  aimed at temporarily stopping over-sized home projects until loopholes in the building codes can be closed and  new design standards established. Entertainer Dolly Parton is selling her home away from home. The actress/singer/songwriter has listed her West Hollywood property for $1.395 million. That’s only a small bump up from the $1.2 million Parton paid for the home in 2007, according to the Zillow blog. At a little less than 1,200 square feet, the 2-bedroom and 2-bath house is more cottage than palace. However, it’s packed with county charm and Southwest style. Pop rock troubled teen, Justin Bieber, has unloaded his Calabasas party mansion — the scene of many of his antics — including the alleged egging of a neighbor’s yard. Bieber bought the 1.28 property for $6.5 million back in April of 2012. A number of reports are saying the property has been sold to Khloe Kardashian for somewhere around $7.2 million. Burbank police commissioner resigns The Burbank Police Commission’s most controversial and perhaps its most dedicated member is stepping down at the end of tomorrow’s police commission meeting. Jim Etter sent a letter of resignation late yesterday to Police Commission Chair, Elise Stearns-Niesen, Mayor/City Council member, Jess Talamantes, Burbank Police Chief and Deputy Chief, Scott LaChasse and Tom Angel.
