Ex-Burbank school employee arraigned on sex charges

The bail for former Burbank school employee, Jose Antonio Banuelos Jr., has been raised to $1 million. It happened yesterday in a Burbank court where Banuelos was arraigned. Last Tuesday, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office filed six sex felonies against 28 year-old Banuelos, including two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. Banuelos was arrested last Friday after a 17 year-old John Burroughs female student reportedly told Burbank Police about their sexual relationship. ex-Burbank school coach arrested for sex with a minor

For the third time in 10 months, an employee or former employee of a high school in Burbank has been arrested for alleged sexual misconduct with a minor. The latest arrest took place yesterday. Burbank Police say Jose Banuelos Jr., an assistant baseball coach at John Burroughs High School and part-time employee of Burbank Parks and Recreation Department, was taken into custody in the parking lot of Ralph’s supermarket 2600 West Victory Boulevard. City Buzz: Second Burbank H.S. shaken by sex charges

For the second time in less than a month, a Burbank high school is in the news in connection with a criminal case involving sex charges and underage students. Last Thursday, June 18, Burbank High School Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach, Kyle Roach, was arrested and booked on felony charges of oral copulation with a minor, annoying or molesting a child, and possession of child pornography. Ex-Burbank school employee arrested on sex charges

A former Burroughs High School employee is facing several sex charges allegedly involving two female students. Burbank Police arrested 23 year-old, Clarke Surrey, of Glendale last Thursday, June 4. BPD reportedly began an investigation after receiving a tip, according to a news release. Surrey is accused of having sex with two students, between the ages of 15 and 17, “from approximately 2011 to 2015.”  Multiple incidents allegedly occurred off campus and the release claims Surrey “may have taken photos and videos at the time of some of the incidents.”... Fourth “meet and greet” with 2015 Burbank election candidates

The fourth in a series of  “meet and greet events” with the candidates in the 2015 Burbank elections. The event will be from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, at the John Burroughs High School library. This is a chance to express your concerns and views directly to the candidates.

Food drive for BTAC at Burbank homecoming games

The Burbank chapter of the National Charity League is sponsoring community food drives at the Burbank High And John Burroughs homecoming games. They’re collecting for the Burbank Temporary Aid Center, which assists needy families and individuals. The football games will be played at Memorial Field on the Burroughs campus. Food collection boxes will be posted at the entrance to Memorial Field. The varsity game between Burbank High and Burroughs is on Friday.

Non-perishable items are needed like rice, canned and dry soups, pastas, cereals, pancake mix, syrup, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, canned meats and tuna. For more information contact Arlina Mayor (818) 818 404-1510 .

Mourning in Burbank for three young accident victims

The crowds from the candlelight vigil last night were gone from the steps of John Burroughs High School on Clark Avenue in Burbank this morning. However, some of the candles were still burning for truck accident victims and Burroughs graduates, Jake Gnasso, Ian Bulbenko, and April Townsend.
