Viacom and Google settle legal battle over YouTube

Viacom and Google have agreed to bury the hatchet, ending a seven-year landmark legal battle over YouTube. The companies announced today they had agreed to settle Viacom’s $1 billion dollar copyright infringement against Google out of court. Google has fought the case vigorously and one official says it has cost the search engine giant $100 million. There are issues and controversies Burbank folks can’t stop talking about. The proposed and long-stalled Walmart superstore at the old Great Indoors location on North Victory Place at the Empire Center is one of those hot debates. Judge rules Los Angeles Dodgers community property–for now

A Los Angeles judge handed down a legal ruling today that could mean more bad news for the Dodgers. This morning, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon threw out a 2004 marital agreement, between Jamie and Frank  McCourt, that would have given him sole ownership of the team. Frank is not thrilled with the ruling and has indicated he will continue the court battle with some new strategies — which could tie the Dodgers up in legal limbo for years. SAG legal battle set for a second round in court tomorrow

Battling parties in the Screen Actors Guild are scheduled to go before a Los Angeles Superior Court judge again tomorrow. Yesterday, the judge ruled a lawsuit filed by SAG President Alan Rosenberg and three others was defective. Rosenberg , SAG First V.P. Anne-Marie Johnson, National Board member Diane Ladd, and National Board member Kent McCord were scheduled to re-file their suit tomorrow. The Rosenberg group wants to reinstate ousted National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Doug Allen.
