Regular gas drops below $4 a gallon in Burbank

Just before the long Easter holiday weekend, gas prices dipped in Burbank. Today I bought $20 worth of regular gas at the Arco station at Lake Street and Alameda Avenue in B-town. The price: $3.99 a gallon. Okay, it’s not the serious tumble we would like — but hopefully, this is the beginning of a major drop in gas prices. Gas prices heading up for Labor Day weekend, consumers blame oil companies

Gasoline prices are on a roll again — upward!  As the long Labor Day weekend approaches, prices at the pumps continue to creep up. Today the national average for a gallon of self-serve regular is $3.75, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report. Mega Millions jackpot update —winner steps forward with $134 million ticket

A Southland man is rolling in the dough after turning in his winning Mega Millions lottery ticket from last Friday’s game. John Dalkos walked into the Santa Ana lottery office to claim his winnings on Monday. Dalkos’ ticket was originally worth $133 million bucks, but strong ticket sales pushed the value up to $134 million. Earthquake shakes up Southern California

Some folks in Southern California are still recovering from last night’s reminder that we live in earthquake country. That reminder came in the form of a 4.7 quake which rocked, rolled, shimmied, or shifted the ground from side to side for up to 15 seconds, according to those who felt it. Experts say the shaker shook up a large section of the Southland at 8:39 p.m. and was followed by an aftershock of 3.1 a few minutes later. Air Force One touches down at Long Beach Airport

Lawrence K.Ho/Los Angeles Times   President Barack Obama arrived on board Air Force One at Long Beach Airport right on schedule, at around 3 p.m. today.     Lawrence K. Ho/Los Angeles Times   The president stepped off the aircraft and into the Southern California sunshine and waved at the waiting crowd. The first stop on his busy two day visit: the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa for a town hall meeting.
