“12 Years a Slave” wins big at 2014 Image Awards

Another big win for Oscar-contender, “12 Years a Slave.” The brutal depiction of slavery in America won the top honor of outstanding motion picture of 2013 at the 45th Annual NAACP Image Awards held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Other wins for the film: Steve McQueen for director, Lupita Nyong’o for supporting actress, and John Ridley for outstanding writing for a motion picture. Last Sunday, February 19, the Writers Guild of America West and East announced the winners of the 2012 Writers Guild Awards for outstanding achievement in writing for screen, television, radio, news, promotional, videogame, and new media writing.
