A funeral service will be held later today for former-Burbank police cadet and Bakersfield Police Officer, David Nelson. The 26 year-old former Burbank High School graduate was killed in the line of duty last Friday, when his cruiser crashed during a police pursuit. In a statement from the Burbank Unified School District, Nelson is remembered as “… an intelligent, caring, funny, energetic, and hardworking young man who touched many lives.” The service  for Officer Nelson is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Hall of Liberty  at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills... NBCUniversal agrees to pay millions to settle interns’ lawsuit

NBCUniversal has decided to settle rather than fight a lawsuit by unpaid interns. The settlement for $6.4 million was reached between the entertainment giant and the attorneys for lead plaintiff, Monet Eliastam, a 2012 Saturday Night Live intern, according to an exclusive report on The Hollywood Reporter website. U.S. District Judge Ronald Ellis will now need to sign off on the deal before it becomes final. Have you noticed, the NBC signs and its legendary peacock logo are disappearing from the  Burbank site at Alameda and Olive Avenues? The replacement, signage for The Burbank Studios. Worthe Real Estate Group bought the historic 34-acre lot in 2008,  for an undisclosed price.  The real estate developer has big, big plans for the lot. Check out the developer’s website for details. NBCUniversal reportedly will lease some of the space on the lot, but move most of its departments, including NBC News operations, to Universal City.

Major change in Universal City development project

A lot of buzz today about the deletion of the residential component of the controversial NBCUniversal development project for Universal City. The media giant is moving  forward with the 20 year “Evolution Plan,” but without the previous designs for an elaborate residential community of almost 3000 units along with retail shops … according to a report posted yesterday on Deadline.com.
