In the News: More money for millions of U.S. workers

Overtime pay for salaried workers: President Obama and the U.S. Labor Department announced the update of overtime regulations today. Hourly workers are guaranteed overtime. Now, thanks to the federal rule update, most white-collar employees making less than $47, 476 will be guaranteed overtime for working more than 40 hours a week. At least four million workers will be impacted, half of them women. Netflix price hike is coming soon

  Get ready. Netflix price hike is coming soon. The on-demand video streaming company plans to increase monthly rates as much as two dollars “later this quarter for new members only.” Current subscribers’ rates will remain the same for a” generous time period,” but they will be going up.   The 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards nominees came out this morning and rocked the entertainment industry with some surprise choices. Disney makes major deal with Netflix

Netflix, the popular online movie service, has scored a huge deal with the Walt Disney Company. In a news release today, Disney announced a “… new multi-year licensing agreement that will make Netflix the exclusive U.S. subscription television service for first-run live-action and animated feature films from The Walt Disney Studios.”  The deal begins with 2013 direct-to-video releases and 2016 big screen feature films. “Disney and Netflix have shared a long and mutually beneficial relationship and this deal will bring to our subscribers, in the first pay...
