Movers and Shapers Awards Luncheon at The Castaway

Woodbury University is honoring Raul R. Porto, Jr. of the very successful Porto’s Bakery and the Burbank Chamber of Commerce with this year’s Movers & Shapers Awards. The honor is bestowed for outstanding service to the community. The awards will be presented at a luncheon at The Castaway.

Tickets  are$75 per person and a table of 10 for $700. For more information contact Michael Seymour (818) 252-5248.

Burbank Scene: Long line at Porto’s Bakery and Cafe

If you’re a regular at Porto’s in Burbank , 3614 West Magnolia Boulevard, you get use to the lines. They start forming really early on the weekend. This morning, the line was out the door and angling down the sidewalk on Hollywood Way before 10 a.m. Sigh.  I love their pastries, cakes, treats, and sandwiches. So do a lot of other folks. So we all stand in line.

Car crashes in front of Porto’s in Burbank

Some scary moments in front of Porto’s Bakery and Cafe in Burbank this morning. A light tan sedan slammed into a traffic signal light pole a few feet from the entrance of the very busy establishment. The investigating Burbank Police officer says the driver was “coming from some medical appointment” and “apparently passed out .” It happened just as the unidentified female motorist was going east on Magnolia Boulevard and attempted to make a right turn onto Hollywood Way. Shout-outs and Call-outs: Who got noticed

Shout-outs   Some praise is deserved for the extremely popular and apparently very customer service savvy Porto’s Bakery at Magnolia Boulevard and Hollywood Way in Burbank.
