Remembering the September 11 attacks 15 years later. In his weekly address yesterday, President Obama focused on those terrorist attacks. The president said we honor the heroes and the victims and “stand with the survivors who still bare the scars of that day.” Meanwhile, as the terrorist threat has evolved, Obama declared we will do everything we can to  “protect our homeland.” The president’s complete address on the White House website or right here on Media City Groove.

UPDATED: 5:00 p.m. President Barack Obama is headed to the Southland today and his visit with undoubtedly cause some traffic issues. The president has a very busy schedule, which includes at least one major fundraiser and appearances on a talk show. President Obama calls on the FCC to keep Internet “free and open”

Today President Barak Obama joined millions of users in support of keeping the Internet “free and open.” President Obama called on the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) to protect the principles of  net neutrality and not let Internet providers “…block or limit your access to a website” or allow cable companies to “decide which online stores you can shop at or which streaming service you can use.” Also, Obama says the agency “… can’t allow any company to pay for priority over its competitors.” The president says these... Obama adminstration takes steps to get equal pay for women

   The debate over equal pay for women was going strong this week. Last Tuesday, April 8, was Equal Pay Day — that’s how far into the new year women must work to match what men earned the year before. Surprisingly, women make up nearly half  of the U.S. workforce, but only earn 77 cents for every dollar a man gets paid.  Last Tuesday, President Obama signed an Executive Order and a Presidential Memorandum to help fight pay discrimination and strengthen the enforcement of equal pay laws.... Nelson Mandela (July 18,1918 – December 5, 2013)

South Africa mourns. The world mourns.  Nelson Mandela died at the age of 95 today. Mandela, the anti-apartheid leader/freedom fighter who once spent 27 years in prison, only to come out in 1990 still convinced racial oppression and segregation were wrong in South Africa or anywhere else on the planet, leaves behind an incredible legacy. President Obama honors the dreamer and his dream

      President Barack Obama spoke today at the “Let Freedom Ring ” ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the historical March on Washington and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I have A Dream” speech. The president delivered his remarks at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial in D.C., where the civil rights leader stirred the hearts of Americans with his famous speech a half a century ago.

President Obama is coming to town

President Obama will be leaving the White House tomorrow and heading west with a stopover in the Southland. The president’s schedule reportedly will include an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” That may mean some traffic issues here in Burbank, particularly near the Burbank Studios at 3000 West Alameda Avenue, where the “Tonight Show” tapes. Obama is due to arrive at LAX at around 3:30 p.m. tomorrow, according to the LAobserved website. More details to come.

President Obama meets victims of Colorado theater shooting

President Obama visited some of the victims of that tragic theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado and their families yesterday. At the University of Colorado Hospital, Obama chatted with victim Allie Young and hugged her friend Stephanie Davies — who is credited with keeping Young alive after she was shot. Twelve moviegoers were killed and around 58 wounded when a gunman sprayed a darkened theater with gunfire early last Friday.
