The damage estimate for a series of deadly tornadoes that barreled through the central part of the U.S. over the past few days is somewhere between $2 and $5 billion, according to a CNN report. Pop singer Cyndi Lauper, “Kinky Boots,” and the 2013 Tony Awards

  Pop singer Cyndi Lauper is having a lot of fun these days on Broadway. Lauper wrote lyrics and music for “Kinky Boots,” about a struggling shoemaker whose business gets a big turnaround when he switches over to producing fancy footwear for drag queens. A lot of rocking and grooving in the desert at 2013 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio over the past few days. The event kicked off it’s first weekend last Friday. On Saturday night, R&B singer, R. Kelly, gave a surprise performance with the French alternative rock band, Phoenix. A sad day for the Walt Disney Company and fans, family, and friends of Annette Funicello. The former Mouseketeer of The famous 1950s “Mickey Mouse Club” TV show died today of complications of multiple Sclerosis — a disease Funicello had battled for more than 25 years.  The actress/singer, who was know as well for those 1960s “Beach Party” movies, reportedly passed away peacefully at a hospital in Bakersfield. What a game! Despite that lengthy blackout in the second half , the Baltimore Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers 34-31. The Ravens had the momentum from the kick-of, but that weird power outage in the third quarter energized the 49ers — but not enough for the Niners to win it all. Oscar maker to axe  a lot of workers It’s not going to be a ho, ho, jolly holiday season for some employees of the company that makes Oscar. The Wrap is reporting today that R.S. Today a Chicago jury came back with a verdict in the murder trial involving the shooting deaths of three members of entertainer Jennifer Hudson’s family: her mother 57-year-old Darnell Donerson, brother 29-year-old Jason Hudson, and 7-year-old nephew, Julian King. The jury convicted the brother-in-law of the Oscar-winning actress on all counts. Thirty-one-year-old William Balfour faces a mandatory life in prison term.
