The nominations were announced early this morning for the 2015 Academy of Awards. In the prestigious Best Picture category, several small quirky films and no blockbusters. In the wake of hacker threats, Sony cancels “The Interview”

  The hackers appear to be winning in the face-off with Sony Pictures. Today Sony canceled the Christmas Day release of the action comedy, “The Interview, ” after several major chains pulled the film from its theaters. “In light of the decision by the majority of our exhibitors not to show the film The Interview, we have decided not to move forward with the planned December 25 theatrical release. FBI confirms Sony Pictures hacked

 Sony Pctures has been hacked! The cyber attack on the entertainment studio reportedly began “… about a week ago when a group called Guardians of Peace, or #GOP for short, gained access to the studio’s system and arranged for a bizarre image and poorly worded text to appear on the computer screens of employee,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Two more sequels for “The Amazing Spider-Man”

Sony Pictures made a big announcement  today about one of its biggest franchises, Spider-Man. Last year, “The Amazing Spider-Man” earned more than $750 million worldwide. A sequel is in  production in New York right now and is due out next May. A news release from Sony Pictures revealed the dates for two more sequels in June 2016 and May 2018. Details on Deadline.

Sony’s new online casting service aims to turn fans into stars

Sony Pictures just launched a search for fans with the right stuff to be in some of its productions. The kick off of this virtual talent search from the entertainment giant was announced in a PRNewswire release today.
