Web Buzz: Starbucks hacked, Rihanna’s deal, and more

The Web is buzzing with reports that Starbucks has been hacked. Some U.S.  customers are saying they’ve been ripped off hundreds of dollars and are blaming a Starbucks mobile app. Apparently, hackers have been able to gain access to victim’s reward cards. However, Starbucks is denying its app is the source of the hack. Starbucks offering booze in some stores

You make soon be dropping into your favorite Starbucks for more than a cup of Joe. After promoting  itself as a great place to buy coffee, the chain is now working on being your favorite happy hours place as well. As part of a new Starbucks Evenings program, some of  its outlets are offering wine and beer along with a speciality dishes like bacon-wrapped dates with balsamic glaze and Parmesan crusted chicken skewers. Starbucks opens a reserve store in Burbank

There’s a new Starbucks Coffee in Burbank. The new store at West Olive and West Verdugo Avenues is a week old today. Store manager, Kate Kevorkian, says the reaction from the public  has been “wonderful” and there’s ” a lot of excitement” about the store. For many years, this location was the home of Theresa’s Family Restaurant. Deja vu! Another car crashes into the same local Starbucks

The Starbucks coffee outlet at Western Avenue and Glenoaks Boulevard in Glendale shut down unexpectedly this afternoon, after a car crashed through the storefront, despite the safety bollards installed to prevent such mishaps. It happened shortly after 1 p.m. There were no customers in the Starbucks at the time and the driver, an 86-year-old woman, was apparently not hurt. Glendale Information Officer, Sergeant Thomas Lorenz, says the driver, who does not want to be identified, refused treatment from paramedics. Another big bucks deal for Magic Johnson

Ex-NBA Star, Magic Johnson, must have some major plans in the works. The Los Angeles Times is reporting Johnson recently sold his 105 Starbuck franchises back to the parent company. Earlier this week it was announced, the former Laker superstar, unloaded his ownership interest in the Lakers. Both deals are worth around $100 million, according to the Times.
