Freelance writer/producer’s debut book gets a TV deal

                                     Los Angeles writer/producer Jessica Brody is celebrating one of those milestones that makes one do the happy dance. Last week, Brody got the word her novel, ” The Fidelity Files,” had been optioned for development as a television series by Marina Grasic, the executive producer of the Oscar-winning film, “Crash.” St. Martin’s Press released “The Fidelity Files,” Brody’s debut novel, last summer. The novel is about a young woman who goes undercover as a  “fidelity inspector” for suspicious wives and girlfriends who want their men put to the test. The novel focuses on the question women... Jay Leno gets a new NBC deal

Today NBC revealed some details of that new primetime gig for “The Tonight Show” host Jay Leno. Hollywood and the media have been buzzing about the new Leno show since yesterday. NBC Entertainment/Universal Media Studios co-heads, Ben Silverman and Marc Graboff, joined Leno to make the official announcement at a news conference in Universal City. Leno will vacate “The Tonight Show” desk on Friday, May 29, 2009. NBC decided to boot Leno out of the chair so that late night talker Conan O’Brien could take over. Whoopi has a new TV deal

Google Image Academy award winning actress Whoopi Goldberg has a new TV deal and it has nothing to do with her position on that lively morning talker, “The View.”  Goldberg’s production company, Whoopi Inc, has signed on to develop series and specials for the Science Channel and Investigation Discovery. In a news release, Goldberg says the deal with Discovery Emerging Networks is a perfect fit, “… since I’m really curious about the world…”  Have no fear fans of “The View,” Whoopi has no plans to leave that show. Obama campaign plans big time TV ads

  FLLewis/A Writer’s Groove Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s campaign is gearing up for a multi-million dollar TV ad blitz just days before the general election. The Hollywood Reporter says the Obama campaign has brokered a deal with CBS, NBC, and is negotiating with the other networks as well. The CBS deal is for a half-hour of primetime reportedly at a cost $961,000. NBC is selling the Obama campaign a half-hour for close to a million dollars as well.
