Pop singer Cyndi Lauper is having a lot of fun these days on Broadway. Lauper wrote lyrics and music for “Kinky Boots,” about a struggling shoemaker whose business gets a big turnaround when he switches over to producing fancy footwear for drag queens. The musical is based on a true story, a 2005 film by the same name as well as a book by Harvey Fierstein. “Kinky Boots” opened this spring on Broadway and last Tuesday, received 13 Tony nominations the most of any production. New play opening in Burbank A live theater production of the Christmas play, “Table of the Heart,” is set to open tomorrow, December 10, at the Media City Church 269 East Providencia Avenue in the Media City. The production is written and directed by Tatum Shank. The play tells the story of the tragedy and triumph of the Carmichael family who move from Los Angeles to Seattle and quickly are faced with heartbreaking circumstances that they must overcome. She carried her tall frame proudly and with a deep voice and sharp wit, could deliver some of the best comedy one-liners ever. Arthur acted on stage in local theater as well as on Broadway.
