Severe weather whips up deadly twisters in Oklahoma again

  More severe weather in parts of the U.S. today. Yesterday, Oklahoma got slammed by deadly tornadoes again.  Five twisters rolled through the state, killing at least 9 people in the state and injuring more than 70 others. Back on May 20, a massive tornado, the most powerful EF5, ripped through Moore, Oklahoma — killing two dozen and causing incredible damage. Details on CNN.

Carrie Underwood donates $1 million for victims of tornadoes and other disasters

The damage estimate for a series of deadly tornadoes that barreled through the central part of the U.S. over the past few days is somewhere between $2 and $5 billion, according to a CNN report. Yes, that’s billion with a “b.” Already folks are extending a helping hand, from the regular Joe and Jane on the street to celebrities like country hit maker and “American Idol” 2005 winner, Carrie Underwood.   UPDATED 9:43 a.m.: Wednesday, May 22, 2013 A band of thunderstorms is moving through the southern states of Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi headed east today. The thunderstorms produced damaging winds and hail in parts of Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi yesterday. The day before, Monday, the powerful weather system sent a deadly tornado plowing through Moore, Oklahoma, leaving a 17 mile trail of destruction.
