Veterans job fair in Burbank today

Several employers looking for workers will be on site today at a veterans job fair  in Burbank. The Burbank Workforce Connection office, a co-sponsor of the event, “hopes to connect as many veterans as possible with viable employment opportunities,” according to a news release posted on the city website. The job fair is aimed at military veterans, but is open to the general public. Veterans Day ceremony at McCambridge Park in Burbank


A Veterans Day ceremony is set to get underway at McCambridge Park in Burbank at the War Memorial — the corner of Amherst Drive and San Fernando Boulevard. The patriotic ceremony to honor and thank those have served in our Armed Forces will feature the United States Navy, Burbank Community Band, St. Robert Bellarmine kindergarteners, and a flyover by the Condor Squadron.

The City of Burbank and the Burbank Veterans Committee are the sponsors.  For more information call (818) 238-5435.

Photo Flashback: Honoring a veteran on Veterans Day

A Veterans Day ceremony was held at the McCambridge Park War Memorial at the corner of Amherst Drive and San Fernando Road in Burbank on November 11, 2013. Tuskegee Airman (retired) Lt. Colonel Robert “Bob”  J. Friend, 93, was the guest speaker. Among the acknowledgments, Friend received a certificate of recognition from the California Assembly. Friend was one of the first African-American pilots to serve in the U.S. military.  He trained at Tuskegee, Alabama.
