Today Burbank Police released photos in connection with a theft at Bret Harte Elementary School 3200 Jeffries Avenue. The suspect described as an African-American female, 30-40, reportedly appeared on the school grounds two weeks ago, Wednesday, October 7, between 2:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.”Once on campus, the suspect walked into an unoccupied classroom. She stole a credit card and money from a teacher’s purse. The suspect later used the credit card to make purchases at stores in Glendale and Burbank, ” according to a news release sent out today.
Also, the suspect reportedly is a person of interest in similar crimes in La Crescenta and El Segundo.
The suspect’s vehicle is “a black Kia or Hyundai 4 door with out-of-state license plates.” BPD is investigating along with the Burbank Unified School District, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and the El Segundo Police Department. Anyone with information on the suspect or the crime is asked to contact Burbank Police Detective, Steve Karagiosian, at (818) 238-3210 or

Burbank Police take credit for the “enhanced” surveillance photo and are circulating it.
In the case of ‘Poopgate” on Magnolia they claim a “policy” against showing video.
Double Standard–both are “allegedly” hallway photos.
What’s up?
Dixie,
I hear what you’re saying. I too wonder about this so called “policy” of the Burbank Police, which allows the release of photos of certain suspects . As you know, I have recently asked for the booking photos of suspects accused of sex crimes against school children. Those requests were rejected by that department. However, the BPD is now circulating photos of a minority female suspected of stealing money and a credit card from a teacher’s purse in an empty classroom.
In the case of “Poopgate,” Burbank Police are refusing to release a copy of a video that has been used to accuse a Magnolia merchant of a tacky act. If “Poopgate” turns into another legal case that taxpayers have to foot the bill for — the city council, city manager, city attorney, and police chief should all be held accountable.
Their “policy” allowed them to issue a Press Advisory on the one hand–
then issue legaleze about Poopgate???
Thanks for taking your time to alert folks to the flip-flop-philosophy of our Police.
Has the “dragnet” caught the sticky-fingered one yet?
BTW Mrs Fronnie,
After a more careful look, that doesn’t appear to be a hallway in any Burbank School?
Did Burbank Police acquire this photo from another Police Agency?
Do we have surveillance cameras in various Burbank School hallways?
Dixie,
I’m curious about the source of the photos as well. Did they come from surveillance video provided by the the Burbank School Unified School District or from somewhere else?
I had heard about this and its scary. What security do our children have in Burbank schools when any strange person can just walk in and do whatever they want ?
For all the Parents who are required to go through the “jumps” to pick-up their children at various school locations the question is of course……..How??? and Why????
The front office personnel who so casually ignore Burbank Parents and Grandparents have some Explaining to Do!!!!!
Other times they act as the Gestapo….What gives???
