Here are the statements they sent to Media city Groove this morning. Burbank General Election 2015: Winners and losers

The race for two seats on the city council in yesterday’s Burbank General Municipal Election was a hard-fought battle. No one knows that better than incumbent Emily Gabel-Luddy who admitted she had to fight to keep her seat for a second term: ” It was important to take it seriously — work to the very end.” On Election night at City Hall, the ballot count zipped right along after the 7 p.m. deadline and was a done deal less than three hours later. Election Day and the Burbank ballot deadline debate

It’s Election Day in Burbank and there’s some chatter on the Internet about how recent additions to the California Elections Code requires city officials to extend the mail-in only ballot deadline. Don’t believe it. Yesterday Burbank City Clerk, Zizette Mullins, sent out this response to all the questions, conspiracy theories, and whatever else is being batted around as fact. Last year, the City Clerk’s Office was informed of the changes proposed by Senate Bill 29 adopted by the California Legislation (Legislature) on September 26, 2014, which became effective... Political campaigns, thank-yous, and the Burbank General Election

Political campaigns for the Burbank General Municipal Election shift into high gear this week. Some of the candidates in the run-off for either city council or school board are already back going door-to-door in various neighborhoods hoping to pick up some extra votes. I ran into city council candidate, Juan Guillen, at The White Chapel on Avon Street where the Burbank Coordinating Council meeting/luncheon was held today. Guillen finished in the top four in last Tuesday’s primary; therefore, he moves on to the general election. He admits it was “a... Read More →

Burbank Primary Election follow-up: Concessions and thank-yous

Burbank School Board candidate, Jesse “Tangk”  Tangkhpanya, did not do well in yesterday’s Burbank primary.  Tangk is a relative newcomer to Burbank with some impressive credentials. However, he finished last in a field of six candidates vying for three seats on the board.  Still, the gracious concession post he put up on his Facebook page makes him a winner in my book. Also, Tangk emailed me a copy of his concession post today and here it is. The results are in, and the voters have spoken. I... Read More →

The Burbank landscape is dotted with political signs from the various candidates campaigning for the two seats on the city council and the three seats on the Burbank School Board. The audience was not as large as for the previous Burbank City Council candidates’ forum. The candidates took every opportunity to work the room and meet as many potential voters as possible.
