Who’s running for Burbank City Council?

It’s hard to turn away from national politics with the erratic and over the top Donald Trump trying to bully his way into the White House. Especially now that Trump has launched into an all out feud with the Republican establishment. Drama, drama, and more drama! Nevertheless, back here in Burbank, campaigns are quietly gearing up for the battle for three seats on the city council, where very important local issues are decided, such as growth and development in the city. I have heard rumblings that certain... Read More →

Election Buzz: Campaign signs and those holiday decorations

Campaign signs of the candidates, in the 2015 Burbank Municipal Elections, playing by the standard political rules are appearing around town now. A cluster of campaign signs supporting the re-election of council member Emily Gabel-Luddy are in several yards along West Verdugo  Avenue between Catalina  and Keystone streets. The signs popped up after Christmas — in accordance with an old school political rule of the city. You might remember, first time city council candidate, Chris Rizzotti, ignored that rule.  Rizzotti’s campaign signs have blanketed B-town for the past... Read More →

UPDATED:Election Buzz: Campaign signs, Gabel-Luddy, and new school board candidate

While the debate rages, residents and businesses are continuing to show support for city council candidate, Chris Rizzotti, by publicly displaying  his yard signs. The Rizzotti camp has been criticized for offering its political signs now rather than waiting until the holiday season nears an end.  Recently, I spoke with some of the other candidates in 2015 races and none was willing to buck tradition and offer yard signs before the first of the year. In a letter in the Burbank Leader, outspoken resident Molly Shore,... Read More →

City Buzz: Another candidate jumps into the 2015 race for Burbank City Council

Several potential candidates are quietly preparing or exploring campaigns for the 2015 race for Burbank City Council. This is the way it has worked in the past. Gear up discreetly behind the scenes in the spring and summer. Then usually, council candidates announce in the fall. Well, this time around not all of the candidates are playing by the old rules. Two have announced that they are already off and running; Burbank Planning Board member/realtor, Chris Rizzotti, last March and freelance writer/journalist, Will... Read More →
