Easter egg hunts in Burbank

A lot folks were out at the Easter egg hunts in Burbank.  The hunts were the big draw at the Spring Egg-Stravaganza this morning. The event was held in McCambridge Park 1515 North Glenoaks Boulevard. Overall, the crowds did not appear to be as large as they were at the Spring Egg-Stravaganza last year. This may be due to the new rules or the many activities on this Easter weekend. Here are some highlights of the four egg hunts at the  Egg-Stravaganza 2014 in the Media City.    ... Read More →

Burbank Spring Egg-Stravaganza a huge hit

Thousands of Easter fans, young and old, got up early and took part in the revived Spring Egg-Stravaganza at McCambridge Park on North Glenoaks Boulevard in Burbank last Saturday. While parents and onlookers snapped photos, kids dashed for Easter eggs, hung out with the Easter bunny, got some golfing lessons, and played other games. Burbank Park, Recreation ad Community Services Director, Judie Wilke, and her staff were opposed to bringing back the long-running Easter tradition. However, last month the city council voted to bring back the Spring Egg-Stravagazana.... Read More →

City Buzz: Spring Egg-Stravaganza gets a reprieve and the Burbank election revamp

Spring Egg-Stravaganza back on!   It’s not too often this Burbank City Council ignores the advice of a city department head — but it happened at last night’s council meeting during the discussion of the Spring Egg-Stravaganza. The event has been hotly debated since it got scrapped last year by the heartless staffers in the Park, Recreation and Community Services Department — allegedly due to a shortfall in funds and some dribble about too many out-of-towners, under the age of 10,  showing up to hobnob with... Photo Gallery: The president drops to the court to do push-ups

President Obama was prompted to drop to the court and do some push ups, after a member of the famous Harlem Globetrotters made a hoop shot at the 134th annual Easter Egg Roll at the White House yesterday. It was part of a “Shoot for Strength” game where kids were encouraged to do push ups every time one of the Globetrotting pros made a basket. The president showed he was game — by doing some of the push ups. More than 30, 000 people from 50 states reportedly attended the... Read More →

Easter and Passover greetings from President Obama

Remarks of President Barack Obama Weekly Address The White House April 7, 2012 For millions of Americans, this weekend is a time to celebrate redemption at God’s hand.  Tonight, Jews will gather for a second Seder, where they will retell the story of the Exodus.  And tomorrow, my family will join Christians around the world as we thank God for the all-important gift of grace through the resurrection of His son, and experience the wonder of Easter morning. These holidays have their roots in miracles that... Read More →

It might rain on the Easter festivities

A chance of rain tonight and on Easter Sunday. We had mostly cloud skies with some periods of sunshine today in the Media City. There’s a 20 percent chance of rain tonight and on Sunday.  You’ll have to dress warmly on Easter with the high expected only in the upper 60s — maybe  low 70s. Go ahead, wear an Easter hat, but you might want to take along an umbrella for some cloudy skies that could let loose with some light showers. HAPPY EASTER!!!
