Facebook makes another multi-million dollar purchase

Facebook continues its buying spree with another multi-million dollar purchase. Facebook buys a virtual reality company for $2 billion

Facebook has made another staggering purchase — $2 billion for  the virtual reality gaming company, Oculus VR Inc. The social network made the announcement on its website yesterday. Facebook reportedly buying drone company for $60 million

The social media network with the deep pockets, Facebook,  seems to be on a buying spree. Last month, Facebook bought the mobile messaging service, WhatsApp,for $19 billion. There’s now  a lot of chatter on the Internet about Facebook negotiating to buy New Mexico-based, Titan Aerospace, for $60 million, according to TechCrunch. Facebook is dumping its email service

More developments for Facebook. The world’s largest social network has more than a billion monthly users, however, not many of them bothered to use Facebook email. After pushing it for several year, the company has decided to retire  @facebook.com. “We’re making this change because most people haven’t been using their Facebook e-mail address, and we can focus on improving our mobile messaging experience for everyone,” Facebook said in a statement that appeared on CNN today.   “Prince of Bel-Air” actor James Avery died last month, on New Year’s Eve. Avery reportedly passed away in a nearby Glendale hospital, following open heart surgery. He was only 68. Burbank Election News: Burbank Votes site on Facebook and mail in ballots

Want more information on the Burbank municipal elections? Check out Burbank Votes on Facebook. Not a lot there so far — but hopefully that will change real soon. Did see a post about the city conducting an election workshop on Monday, February 4, in the council chambers at Burbank City Hall. The event starts at 6 p.m. Also, mail in ballots for the February 26, Burbank Primary Nominating Elections, should be going out next week.
