NBC dumps Donald Trump. The network released a statement saying it fired the Donald because of negative remarks he made about Mexicans, when he launched his presidential campaign earlier this month on Tuesday, June 16. “Fashion meets Phil” Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra

A spectacular evening of music and fashion is planned for the opening night gala of the Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra’s 24th concert season. Several Burbank Philharmonic musicians will be wearing gowns created for this special evening by the talented fashion designers at Woodbury University.  Soloist, Heidi Hatch, will be performing Glazunov’s “Violin Concerto” and wearing one of the designer creations. This is the second year of the partnership between the university and the orchestra.

The free concert will be held at the Ambassador Auditorium. The Burbank Philharmonic music director, Steven Kerstein, conducts the program. Street parking is limited. Parking in the structure is $10. More information at

The Oscars: Winners, awards, and those fabulous celebrity gowns

As expected, “The King’s Speech” captured the best picture Oscar at the 83rd Academy Awards ceremony at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood tonight. The surprise, the historic British drama was nominated for a record 12 awards, but only won four.
