City Buzz: New grocery store, update on tragic accident

A new grocery store will soon open in Burbank. Banners for Grocery Outlet are plastered on the old site of the Fresh & Easy store at 1625 West Verdugo Avenue. Grocery Outlet calls itself a bargain market and in its company statement claims:”We offer brand-name, quality products at up to 40-70% off conventional retail prices.” There are reportedly more than 260 independently owned Grocery Outlets in Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington, and California. Campaign underway for a new Trader Joe’s in Burbank

A campaign is underway to open a new Trader Joe’s market in Burbank. It has gained traction in the neighborhood around the failed Fresh & Easy market at 1615 West Verdugo Avenue. Fresh & Easy closing all stores on Friday the 13th

No last-minute reprieve for the Fresh & Easy grocery chain, the latest victim of the very competitive U.S. market. After the company filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy at the end of last month, all the stores are being closed — today is the last day.
