Record breaking weather in Burbank as blistering heat wave continues through Labor Day weekend. Yesterday in the Media City, the temperature soared to 108 shattering a record of 106 degrees on August 31 set back in 2007. The heat wave kicked off at the beginning of the week. The high today in B-town expected to hit triple-digits again. Burbank hits 111 before cooling trend kicks in. Yesterday,  was for a huge record breaker. The temperature blasted through the record of 106 set on that date, back in 2008, before noon. Like the rest of the Southland, the Media City continued to sizzle in the first major heat wave of the year. Burbank breaks another heat record on first day of summer. The temperature has been rising since sunrise in Burbank. Before 9 .a.m. it was in the 90s. An hour or so later, the Media City smashed another record with a temperature of 107, according to the National Weather Service. Yes, it will probably get even hotter before the sun sets! Burbank breaks 43 year-old heat record during heat wave. Yesterday, the thermometer kept rising in the Media City. When it hit 106 we thought that was going to be it. However, the temperature continue to climb until it hit a record 109, according to the National Weather Service. That breaks a record of 104 set on that day back in 1973. Wow! At noon today, the temperature hit 100 in Burbank and the mercury will probably climb even higher this afternoon. A Southland heat wave kicked off earlier in the week and it’s expected to peak today and tomorrow. Burbank is baking in that relentless heat wave scorching the Southland. Yesterday, the Media City broke a record with a high of 104 — the previous record for August 15 was 101 set in 1977.  The temperature in B-town is expected to soar into the triple digits once again today. Officials recommending residents stay in doors during the heat wave

Burbank officials are recommending residents stay in doors during the heat wave. Temperatures in Burbank reached the low 90s yesterday. A high of 95 is expected today.  The forecast is for hot temps to linger into the weekend. Hot and windy in Burbank today

It’s going to be hot and windy in Burbank today. Before 9 a.m. the temperature was hovering at around 80 degrees. Hot winds were blowing debris through the streets this morning and the air very dry. A wind advisory is in effect through tomorrow afternoon. Winds are expected to reach  25-30 MPH in the Media City today. A winter heat wave: 88 in Burbank!

  The calendar says January, but it feels like July in Burbank! At 2 p.m. the mercury hit 88  in B-town and could go even hotter before the sunset. More 80 degree temps expected through the end of the week in the Media City. We’re in the middle of winter but Southland is sizzling like it’s summertime. Along with that we have red flag warnings , which means high fire danger, and an advisory of high gusty winds through tomorrow evening.

Two Burbank libraries designated cooling centers during heat wave

Starting today, folks in Burbank will get some relief from the heat wave. Two of the city’s libraries will have longer hours through Sunday, providing cool places to escape hot temperatures in the 90s and even triple digits. Two designated cooling centers were announced yesterday in a news released: “Residents are encouraged to seek relief from the heat by visiting either the Buena Vista Library at 300 N. Temperatures heating up in Burbank and the rest of the Southland

  It looks like the Southland is heading into the first heat wave of the summer.  Some parts of the valley could get up into the triple digits over the next few days. Burbank is already sizzling. Today at 12:30 p.m. the high was 87 in the Media City and felt even warmer. B-town can expect highs in at least the 90s tomorrow through Monday. There will be plenty of sunshine go along with the hot temperatures. Yeah, summer is here.

Triple digit heat in Burbank

The  month of October kicked off with extreme heat in Burbank.  The Media City fried with triple digits — reaching a blistering 106 degrees today. At 5 p.m. this evening it was still 102!  The rest of the Southland is suffering from this heat wave as well. The dry, hot heat has increased the fire danger, too. Heat wave returns to Burbank and Southland

A sizzling Sunday in the Southland and according to the forecast it’s just the first of some seriously hot days. The high is expected to reach at least 99 today in Burbank with triple digits predicted through Thursday here.   Yeah, the calendar says it’s fall — but apparently summer is still clinging to the Southland. Get out the sunglasses and the sunscreen and try to stay cool.

Heat wave continues: Another excessive heat warning

A relentless heat wave continues to bake Burbank and the rest of the Southland. A hot air mass is hovering over the region. An excessive heat warning went into effect this morning through late evening for portions of the valleys and mountains in So Cal. Yesterday the high hit 100 again in B-town and we can expected it to be just as hot today. At 11 a.m., the temperature was already 90! So the heat is very much on in the Media City.
